Wanna Guest Designer Spot?
Crop Addict is having a fun contest for a Guest Designer Spot... here's the details:

Crop Addict is looking for a Guest Designer for the month of June and August for our monthly kit. We're asking that interested designers purchase the Guest DT Contest Kit, this way everyone has access to the same supplies. Due to shipping and time contraints our Guest Designer spot is open to US residents only.

Submission requirements: There is no set number of layouts or projects but we want to see how you can rock this kit. It'll give us a good indicator of how you'll ROCK our monthly kit.

So if you feel that just one layout represents your best work then one layout is fine. But if you want to WOW us and show us that you can crank out several layouts and maybe even a project, well you bet, we want to see everything!

Eligibility: Because we require our DT to be exclusive, we ask the same for our Guest Designer. If you're on another online store or kit club's DT then you would not be eligible. If you are on a LSS DT or manufacturer DT you are eligible.

Upload your layouts into the Guest DT gallery located in the Design Team Challenge gallery. Submissions are due by midnight on April 29th.

Contest begins: April 1st, yep we're serious. and ends April 29th. Winner will be announced April 30th.

If you're chosen as a Guest Designer for Crop Addict:
1) Your photo and bio will be added to our Design Team page on our website. And your name will be listed on the Crop Addict home page.

2) You will receive the June Monthly kit within a week of being selected. We require that you complete 4 layouts and 1 project with the June kit and upload them into the June Monthly kit gallery by June 1st.

3) Guest Designer will participate in the forums by posting a minimum of 3 times a week.

4) You will receive the August Monthly kit by July 1st. You will complete 4 layouts and 1 project wiht the August kit and upload them into the August Monthly kit gallery by August 1st.

Have fun and can't wait to see how your creativity shine.

So whatcha waiting for? Come on over and play with us! :)

Oh yeah... and I'm the featured DT member this month, so come play my challenge and maybe win a prize! ;)

The Big Prize:

First, the answers:

1. Rocking Rollercoaster scared the bejeezus out of me. I had nail marks in my hands, literally= from where I was digging my nails into the handles. I also couldn't scream I was so freaked out. I stayed off of the ride the next three times and sketched while Vanessa, Monique, and Gretchen blasted their brains out on it.

2. My favorite color is, as Katie said, Punk Rawk Green, but I am currently OBSESSED with the green/torquoise/black combo... mmm mmm.

3. My fave tv shows are LOST, Gilmore Girls, The Office, and Scrubs. :)

4. The kiddos are Emerson and Atticus, named after Ralph Waldo Emerson and Atticus Finch (from "To Kill a Mockingbird.")

5. We were both 20 when we got married. My husband is deeply saddened that everyone thinks he's such an old man. He can't help it if he wears old man slippers. listens to NPR, and thinks 9pm is "staying up late." ;)

Sooooo KAREN, look for a little package of ephemera in the mail soon! :) (And the rest of y'all- thanks for playing! Keep stopping back by because this Blog Candy thing is way fun!)

For real tho-
I'll be posting the winner tomorrow morning & posting a pic of the prize... just got back from small group at church and just want to get into my jammies and chill out, so I'll see y'all in the morning! :)

And the winner is...
Sike! (Don't you totally miss saying that? Come on, just admit that your 5th grade self is saying, "Yesssssss!" and pulling a fist in, too.)

Hehehehe

I will announce the winner to my little Blog Candy quiz (see Thursday's post if you want in on it) tomorrow night, so you've still got some time to play if you want. ;)

Here's a few of my layouts from the Scrap Etc. Inspiration Rave. The object was to use everyday things as your inspiration. We had to use several print media (ads & such from magazines), so the first two are from an ad and the table of contents from March's Better Homes & Gardens. We were also challenged to use fashion or home decor as inspiration, so this layout is inspired by a little pair of flip flops Em has (the striped background & the subject of the layout). I had a fourth layout but sent it home with a friend since it featured her cutie little girl. :) ETA: She sent me a pic of it so I could share it here- thanks Karen!
And this is the Triaminic Ad the "Faerie" layout is based on (thanks to Jenney I found it online!:

(Note: I no longer have the ads for two of the inspiration layouts, which stinks... but look for my challenge on Crop Addict next month and you may get a little taste of this for yourself. ;) )

Ok, so have I mentioned...
God has truly blessed us with an awesome community of believers and helpers around us... it just takes a lot to knock down that pride and ask for help sometimes, eh?

I got an easy way out this time, though. I didnt' even ask for help - mainly I just whined and complained so much that our generous friends Jeremy & Christa are letting us borrow an extra computer that they have that is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY faster than our current one. I mean, I can type and actually see the words appearing on the screen as I type them! How cool is that?! ;)

So I just wanted to say publicly- thank you guys. You have truly blessed us.

And because of their generosity, I can now blog again!

I'm feeling pretty giddy from this awesome turn of events... so tonight I'm going to do a little cleaning out in my scrapstash and put together a little Blog Candy (or RAK as they say- random act of kindness for you newbies) and give it out to the person who can correctly answer the following questions (and if there is more than one correct answerer, I'll just draw a name. LOL)

Alright so here are your questions:

1. What ride was I scared out of my guts to ride on at Disneyworld/Epcot/MGM ?
2. What's my favorite color?
3. What are two of my favorite tv shows (I'm giving you several chances here, because there are about 4 or 5)
4. What are my kiddos' names (and bonus = who are they named after?)
5. How old were Shaun and I when we got married?

I have no idea if I've even mentioned most of these things on my blog, but I'm thinking I have somewhere here or there. ;)

I'll get off of here and dig around for some fun prizes for y'all, and in the meantime, here's some sneaky peekies at my Crop Addict April Layouts... go check 'em out!

Out looking for trouble on Saturday night and wearing no clothes
Shaun and I get into many a debate regarding word and phrase definitions.

Another such instance was tonight, when I was showing him my new Cosmo Cricket Buck Naked chipboard pieces, we got into a discussion regarding "butt naked" vs. "buck naked" and the etymology of those phrases.

So just in case you were wondering: (compliments of Wikipedia)

Dating from the 1920s, the expression buck naked commonly means completely naked or without a "stitch" (as opposed to partially naked). Synonyms include "bare naked", "buck-arse naked", and "butt naked" (also spelled, facetiously, "butt nekkid"). In the American South, "buck naked" or its corruption "butt naked" means not in your house, out looking for trouble on Saturday night and wearing no clothes.

The origin of the term is "buck naked" as in as naked as a buck deer. It originated during a time when people were less urban and a deer or other wildlife were not such alien concepts, and their references were sprinkled throughout speech. "Naked as a jay-bird" is another such cliché. It was further reinforced in its usage by the fact that a buck-skin is similar to tanned human skin. The corrupted term "butt naked" is just another example of mis-pronounciation that gets ingrained in people's speech. Just like "coming down the pipe" has garnered common usage for those that don't understand that the term "pike" is the proper word. Such corruptions are common in that a mis-heard expression gains acceptance as the erroneous phrase is also reasonably non-sensical when it is heard by others, and propagated.
Hmmm a bit of inspiration..
I saw this on C's blog, and wanted to try it out...if you do it too, check out the cool profile part. It's like a miniBOOK. I'm totally wanting to lift it and do it for me.

Sweet kiddos
These pics are from a very impromptu photo shoot with Michelle's little ones, Hope & Chad, and Karen's sweet girly, Elliya. They look kinda blurry on my computer- but I can't tell if that's just me or if they are blurry in real life. I'm just messing... I haven't edited these at all and just wanted to share them with their mommies and all of you. :)

In the words a Prince Humperdink...
"I have my country's 500th birthday to celebrate, a wedding to plan, a wife to murder and Gilder to frame for it. I'm swamped."

Today:

-Liv to pick up from school & babysit
-yard sale stuff to price & organize
-complete a layout for the Rave at Scrap Etc.

Tomorrow:

-yard sale in the morning
-clean up and get rid of stuff in the afternoon
-get the house ready for Karen and Elliya's visit
-a quick trip to the store
-complete another layout for the Rave at Scrap Etc.

Sunday:

-pick up Karen & Elliya from the airport
-drop off stuff at the library
-go to church
-chill out in the afternoon
-small group at night
-get my hair cut by Kari-Ann from Santa Fe Day Spa

and I don't even want to think about the rest of the week! Without going into detail, I have friends staying with us, trips to Anniston to do, consignment sales to stop by, scrapping stuff to do, and the Scrap Etc. Event to attend!

Seriously though... life should be calming down after this... and Easter...oh and the kids' birthdays ...

ahhh such is my life! LOL

Best to just focus on the task at hand and enjoy the beauty of the day. :)

Later chicks & dudes!

Where does the time fly?
Seriously- where does it go? Because dadgum! I feel like I've lost it all this week!

Started off feeling totally crummy- got that icky cold that I guess is going around. I swear, if I have to blow my nose one more time I think it's going to explode. I spent several days this week holed up in bed, only getting up for the necessaries and to make sure my kids got fed & changed.

I'm getting ready for the Scrap Etc. event that is a mere 13 days away! Yikes! I simply cannot wait to spend this time with my girlfriends, surrounded by scrappy goodness, and being inspired by the incredible teachers that we've got coming. I'm seriously looking forward to Kristina Contes' class. Wheeeeeeeeee!

Also, if you like to win free scrapbooking supplies, you should stop by Crop Addict this weekend. Debbie (the owner) is giving away $1750 worth of prizes in celebration of Crop Addict's one year anniversary! And even more fun- I'm hosting part of the fun tomorrow (Saturday) from 12-2 CST so you should stop by and see me! I'm giving a fun scrapbooking challenge and hosting a game. This is the first time I've ever done this so I am super pumped. :)

Gotta run- we've got some friends coming over for dinner tonight and I've got to get the house cleaned, the errands run, the dessert prepared... oh yeah, and get myself dressed & presentable looking. ;)

Ciao!

Oh yeah- and an update for those interested- the potty training is just in the wee beginning stages... lots of talk about poop & pee. I think Emerson's favorite word now is to shout out "POO POO!" Ahhh a girl after my own heart. ;)
